Obituary of Maurice M. Stam Sr.

Maurice M. Stam, Sr., 87 of Hawkins, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 30th, 2016 at his home. He was born on February 16th, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN to Harvey & Lydia (Mitchell) Stamm. Maurice married Rose Krauter in Terre Haute, IN on May 19th, 1979. He lived in Zion & Waukegan, IL prior to moving to Rusk County, Wi. in 1993. He served in the US Navy and then enlisted in the US Army/Air Force. He was a member of South Lawrence Mennonite Church in Ingram, Wi, was a member of American Legion Post 865 in Zion, IL and American Legion Post 64 in Ladysmith, Wi. He is survived by his wife Rose, 2 sons; Corey & Jessica Goerdt Morrow of Brookings, SD and Jeffrey & Lucy Morrow of Waukegan, IL, 1 step-daughter; Mary Hash of Hawkins, 5 grandchildren; Christina & Joe Klein, Alexandra Morrow-Stam, Richard Morrow, David Hash and Savanna Hash, 3 great-grandchildren; Charlie and Violet Klein and Eponine Larsen and 1 brother; Glendon Stam of Oregon. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons; Maurice M. Stam, Jr. and Michael D. Stam and 4 brothers; Merle Stamm, Myron Stamm, Bennie Stamm, Sr. and David Stam. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the South Lawrence Mennonite Church Ingram Wi with Alvin Stoll and Matt Zacharias officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Ladysmith Veterans Association. Burial will be at a later date in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner. Maurice's family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith, Wi and for an hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the Church. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked donations be made in his name to Rusk County Shop with a Cop 311 Miner Ave, Suite L100 Ladysmith Wi. 54848
