Obituary of Lisa Ann Young

Lisa Ann Young, age 57 of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Pleasant Prairie, WI, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 after a lengthy battle with pneumonia. Lisa was born July 1st 1958. She was preceded in death by her parents Patrick Richard and Nadine Garrett Young and her two beloved pets, Rudy and Cardi. Lisa graduated in 1976 from Zion Benton Township High School, Zion, IL. Lisa spent years working in the grocery business where customers looked forward to her cheerful smile and helpful disposition. Starting as a teenager, she worked at Harbor Foods, Piggly Wiggly, Grand Appliance and finally, returning for a short time, to Harbor Foods. Lisa studied Tae Kwon Do, earning her Black Belt in 1995. Family and friends were Lisa’s passion and delight. She grew up spending summers at Lake Michigan beach, playing “Kick the Can” with her brother Gary, friends; Debbie, Kathy, Nancy, Marilyn, Sandy and the Orrick boys (Bill, Floyd, Don). Lisa loved to bake, party with her friends, gardening and her dogs. She loved the outdoors and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. She enjoyed vacations with Kathy (Doug) and Nancy (Danny). She had planned one day to retire and move out west with her friends. Lisa is survived by her brother Gary (Christine) Young, nieces Rachael and Melina, nephew Zachary, and great-nieces Adriana, Alicia and Amari. Her life-long friends, Debbie (Chuck) Nelson, Kathy (Doug) White, and Nancy (Danny) Murphy; as well as numerous loving relatives and friends. Lisa was a loving, giving woman, filled with grace and will be missed and mourned by all who knew her. Visitation will be on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10:30 am at Congdon Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Adams officiating.
