Obituary of John Robert McCulloch

John Robert “Bob” McCulloch, 81, of Waukegan, IL, and formerly of Zion, IL, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2018.

Bob was born March 1, 1936 at home in Zion, to John and Edythe McCulloch.  He graduated from Zion Benton Township High School with the class of 1954.  Bob was married to Lerita Edwards by Rev. Leland Skinner on November 19, 1955 at Grace Missionary Church in Zion and together they raised three children.   He began his career as a home builder before becoming a realtor and broker for Century 21. Bob served a term as President of the Lake County Board of Realtors.  He was a long-time member of Grace Missionary Church where he served in many areas - as Sunday school teacher; Awana leader; choir member; deacon; and elder.  Bob was also active in the community as a member of the Zion Exchange Club, and President of the Zion Chamber of Commerce.  Bob was a sports fan, especially when it came to basketball, and his hobbies included hunting, fishing and golf.

Bob’s joy in life was family. He was a dedicated husband and father.  He and Lerita especially treasured memories of hosting grandchildren at their place in Door County.

Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lerita McCulloch; children, Cindy (Richard) Jensen of Wadsworth, IL, Christine (Allen) Town of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Corbin (Rebecca) McCulloch of Gurnee, IL; grandchildren, Emily Jensen of Colorado Springs, CO, Olivia Jensen of Wadsworth, Caleb Town of Milwaukee, WI, Ethan Town of Milwaukee, Anna Town of Winthrop Harbor, Lillian McCulloch of Gurnee, and Elynne McCulloch of Gurnee; and sisters, Elaine (Tim) Thomas of Pleasant Prairie, WI; and Barbara Davis of Pleasant Prairie.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and his brother-in-law, Clinton Davis.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Missionary Church, 1415 27th Street, Zion, IL with Pastor Doug Carlson, officiating.  A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Missionary Church would be appreciated.  Please visit the online guest book at www.congdonfuneralhome.com.
