Obituary of Margaret Leable

Margaret Anne Leable, age 93, of Beach Park, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at her residence.  She was born on July 13, 1930 in Ashland, WI, to Albert (“Pat”) and Hattie Pataky.  She graduated from Waukegan High School.

On February 19, 1949, Margaret (“Marge”) married Philip Frank Leable, spending many happy years together, even celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary.  Together they operated a dairy farm on State Line Road and raised their two daughters.

Marge was devoted to her family, and was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed being a homemaker and helping others.  She was a long-standing member of the United Methodist Womenʼs group and Sunday School teacher as well as a 4-H leader for several years.  Later, after their daughters were older, she did office work for local firms and she was proud to learn new skills.  She was also a Winthrop Harbor Lioness for many years.  Marge was an avid snow skier and enjoyed tending to her gardens.  Marge and Phil enjoyed many years traveling with the Lionsʼ group and the Zion Park District, visiting many national parks and landmarks.  Marge and Phil also took countless ski trips with family and friends.  Marge spent much treasured time with each of her grandchildren and enjoyed her great-grandchildren and all the joy that they brought her.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Penny (Paul) Bouchard and Gail (Ward) Brown; three grandchildren (including five great-grandchildren), Christopher (Ashley) Bouchard (Evan, Olivia and Levi); Bradford (Rose) Drabant, Anna (Dan) Watterson (Sophia and Natalie); her sisterin-law, Violet Pataky; her cousin, John Thiel; nephews Robert Pataky, Roy Pataky, Dale Pataky, Jim Martin; nieces Linda (Martin) Miller, Sue (Martin) Coyle, Betty Pataky; and many friends.

Marge is preceded in death by her husband, Phil; father, Pat; step-mother, Frieda; mother, Hattie; son-in-law, Ward; her brothers, Albert, Ralph and Edward; and her niece Sally (Martin) Stroud).

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at North Prairie United Methodist Church, Kenosha Rd, 5000 9th St, Zion, IL 60099.

Margaret will be laid to rest at Mount Rest Cemetery, Wadsworth, IL.
