Obituary of David Harvey

David Earl Harvey, 64, of Waukegan, IL passed away surrounded by his beloved family on April 9, 2024.

David was born in Providence, RI to Mary V. Harvey and Billy D. Harvey On June 13, 1959. He attended Waukegan East High School, class of 1977. He attended Lake Forest College. He worked as a painter at Lake Forest College until 1986, then went into business with his own painting company. After shuttering Dave's Painting in the mid 90s, he spent the remainder of his career as a contract employee/Project Manager for Abbott Labs and Proctor and Gamble until his retirement in 2016. He often looked back with nostalgia on his childhood time in Charleston, SC and the years he spent in Jackson, TN later in life.

David was world renowned for his great sense of humor. He had a knack for witty puns, one liners, witticissms for any occasion and was highly fluent in sarcasm. He enjoyed impromptu road trips, trying new restaurants and breweries. He was a ravenous consumer of science fiction and documentary programs such as Star Trek, Twilight Zone and near anything on the History Channel. He was a CB Radio enthusiast. He enjoyed a range of outdoor activities such as dirt biking, boondocking, camping, fishing and boating on Lake Michigan and the Chain O Lakes.

The most monumental part of David's life was being a father and Popa/Pop Pop. He had an immeasurable impact in their lives and will be forever cherished.

David is survived by his mother, Mary V. Harvey of Waukegan; significant other, Teresa Camp of Burnham, IL; 3 children, David B. Harvey of Kenosha, Wi, Rachel M Harvey of Mccullom Lake, IL and Richard G.A. Harvey of Winthrop Harbor, IL; the children's mother, Joanne Harvey of Grayslake, IL; sisters, Susan Sams of Waukegan, IL and Betty Longo of Waukegan, IL; daughter-in-laws, Dawnmarie Harvey of Kenosha,WI and Ashley Harvey of Zion, IL; beloved grandchildren, Rhiannon, Rylee, Regan, Jordan, Rachel, Ryan; and his namesake, David; many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was proceeded in death by his father, Billy D. Harvey; and his sister, Karen L. Cory. 

The family would love to give a special thanks to Laura, Hannah and the doctors of Vista East ICU for all their above and beyond compassion and attentiveness towards David and his family, along with making his final days as comfortable as possible.

Memorial visitation will be on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. Repast will follow at Stone Creek Grill in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois.
