Obituary of Allen Deacon

Allen H. Deacon, 78, of Beach Park, IL died on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at his home. He was born March 7, 1935 in Waukegan, IL. Allen was a member of Village Church of Gurnee. He served from 1956 to 1960 in the United States Navy as a photographer, his career highlighted by photographing Dwight D. Eisenhower on the USS St. Paul. Allen worked for North Shore Gas Company followed later by the Lake County Highway Department. Allen is survived by and will be missed by many friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Florence Deacon; and his aunt Marquerite Straw. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10, 2013, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be private later at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to either Save-A-Pet Foundation or Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter have been suggested.
