Obituary of Gene Duncan

Gene Duncan, 70, of Beach Park, IL, died on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Grove At The Lake Nursing Home in Zion. He was born February 2, 1943 in Detroit, AL and moved to Zion in 1957. Gene retired from Johns-Manville in Waukegan. He was a member of Waukegan Masonic Lodge #78 A.F.&A.M., Tebala Shrine, Scottish Rite and Tebala Motor Patrol. Gene was also an avid gardner. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dorothy; children Scottie Duncan of Twin Lakes, WI and Deanna (Brian) Calendine of Lake Villa, IL; four grandchildren Jessica (Brian) Smith, Rebecca Calendine, Matthew Calendine, and Ian Duncan: five great-grandchildren Wyatt, Anderson, Brooklynn, Savannah, and Addison; and his mother Audrey Duncan of Zion, IL. He was preceded in death by one brother Wayne Duncan; and his father Elihue Duncan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, where Masonic Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 10th, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Benton-Greenwood Cemetery, Benton Township, IL.
