Obituary of Bill O'Connor

Bill "Fishy" O'Connor, 50, of Kenosha, WI passed away February 9, 2014 at home with his family and friends by his side after an 18 month courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born July 26, 1963 in Ishpeming, MI and grew up in Marquette, MI where he was a member of the South Bum Bottle Squad. He moved to Kenosha in 1991 and married Debbie Bonnes on May 5, 2001 in Waukegan, IL. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for 18 years. Bill was a master dart player. He started in Marquette and played for various leagues in Kenosha and Winthrop Harbor, IL; most recently with the Fat Bastards Dart Team. Bill enjoyed playing disc golf and was the founder and organizer of the Tri State Chain Smashers Association. His Blue Ribbon Lounge is where great friends gather and enjoy his food, he always made sure that everyone was fed. Bill's home away from home was Camp 5 in Big Bay, MI where he loved to fish for brook trout, go four wheeling, or sit around the fire with friends. Bill is survived by his wife whom he has loved for 18 years, Debbie "Momma" O'Connor; 3 children Billy O'Connor Jr., Melyssa (Confesor) Rivera, and John Janulis all of Kenosha; 2 grandchildren Adryanna "Punkin B" Rivera, and Confesor " Cameron" Rivera; mother Jane O'Connor of Marquette, MI; father Donald (Terese) O'Connor of Marquette, MI; 1 brother Ken O'Connor of Spring Grove, IL; 3 sisters Sheila O'Connor of Melbourn, FL, Teresa Evans of Green Bay, WI, Casey O'Connor of Eau Claire, WI; his loyal dogs Captain Fred of the Blue Ribbon Lounge, and Shaggy; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Arnt and Bernice Schjonberg; paternal grandparents John O'Connor and Elizabeth Beckmen; and his buddy Heath. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Interment will be private for the family.
