June Koetz

Obituary of June Koetz

Koetz, June 86, wife of Lester "Ozzie", for 66 years, passed into eternal life on February 12, 2014. She is deeply loved and will be so greatly missed by her devoted husband, Ozzie; 3 loving children, Daniel (Susan), Julia, Allan (Marie); 5 cherished grandchildren, Kirsten (Todd) Klein, Regan (Wendy) Koetz, Meggen (Matt) Davis, Collin (fiancee Alyssa), Madeline Koetz, and 5 adored great-grandchildren, Brady, Allyson, Lexi Koetz, Brock and Bryce Davis, sister Shirley Hall and brother, Jack Wright. June and Ozzie and their family were long-time members of Grace Missionary Church in Zion, IL, where June was an AWANA leader, involved in the music ministry by singing and accompanying on piano and organ, and in the Home-Builders Sunday School class. She loved travel (to all 50 states!), enjoyed camping, swimming, boating, and was on bowling and volleyball leagues. Her and Ozzie's home was always bursting with people; friends, neighbors, family, youth group, church friends, grandchildren, were always welcome and each one received unconditional love, warmth and wonderful food. It was a safe haven for all. She loved to knit, crochet, quilt, and work on stained glass and many were the recipients of her beautiful work. She was head teller at Bank of Zion, secretary for Koetz & Barton, Inc., and bookkeeper for Koetz Plumbing & Piping, Inc. In 1976, Ozzie and June moved to Gurnee and began attending Libertyville Evangelical Free Church. They purchased a home in Florida and spent 20 winters there, enjoying the beautiful weather and the close friendships that developed. Recently, they moved back to Gurnee full-time and began attending Gurnee Community Church, where she was involved in women's Bible studies. She had a deep and abiding faith in a loving God, and prayed for her family daily. In her quiet way, everything she did was done extremely well and full of love. She leaves a priceless legacy in her children and grandchildren. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her saying, 'Many women have done nobly, but you excel them all.' " A Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 17, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Gurnee Community Church, 4555 Old Grand Road, Gurnee, IL. Entombment will be private. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Gurnee Community Church High School Missions Trip. Arrangements under the care of Congdon Funeral Home, Zion, Illinois.
