Obituary of Mary Hensley

Mary T. Hensley (nee Dolinar) , 96, born January 19,1918, to Anton and Rose Dolinar in Waukegan, (raised in North Chicago), died on Sunday March 2, 2014, at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion, IL. She worked at the Navy Exchange in Long Beach, CA, and Great Lakes Naval Station and retired as Cashier Supervisor in 1983. Mary loved dancing, especially the polka, and won numerous trophies. She was an excellent baker and was known for her potica, pies, and cakes. Mary was a member of The Slovenic National Home Org. Everyone will miss her sweet smile. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Jean "Terry" Boyer and Joan (Lou) Boyer-Kopp; sons, Harry "Bud" Boyer and Ron (Violet) Mihevc; grandchildren, Tony (Dianne) Theis, Randy (Jenny) Theis, Ken (Amy) Kopp, Kim (John) Banu, LuAnne Cronin and Wendy Boyer; many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Hensley in 1977; brothers and their wives, Ignatz "Cooks"and Stella Dolinar, Edward "Fritz" and Eleanor Dolinar, Anton "Tony" and Josephine Dolinar, and Henry "Hank" Dolinar. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, Illinois. Interment will be private at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Rolling Hills Manor. The family would like to thank the staff at Rolling Hills for taking such wonderful care of her mother for the last 3 years, with a special thanks to Amy, Phyllis, Henry, and Sammy.
