Obituary of Robert Vincent

Robert E. Vincent, 75, beloved husband and father, went to meet his Savior on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 2:45 p.m. at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, Illinois. He was born October 24, 1932 to Lawrence and Bertha Vincent in Clarkton, Missouri. He had three brothers and one sister, Lawrence (Helen) Vincent, Jack (Reba) Vincent, Roy (Beverly) Vincent and Virginia (John) D'Arman. He married Marilyn (nee Baum) Saylor on December 7, 1977. Their family included seven children; Shyrel Kasper, Kim (Mark) Ernst, Tonya Green, Dianna Clark, Bill (Deb) Saylor, Pam (Brandon) Drysdale and Karen (Tom) Fowler; 19 grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. He was an ordained minister and was a pastor at various locations throughout Illinois. In 1979, he became a partner in Zion Church Builders which was a company responsible for designing and building churches of all denominations throughout the United States. After retiring from Zion Church Builders, he performed building inspections throughout the Chicago area. He became an integral part of the staff at the Christian Life School in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was an avid carpenter, and students at the school endearingly called him "Bob the Builder". He was a member of Lakeview Missionary Church of Zion where he served in various positions such as an usher, leader of the Senior Citizen's group, teacher and trustee. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Roy; his sister Virginia; and his daughters Shyrel and Kim. Visitation will be Sunday, March 9, 2008, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Lakeview Church, 1821 Sheridan Road, Zion, with a funeral service following at 4:00 p.m., Pastor Les Martin officiating. Entombment will follow at Warren Cemetery in Gurnee on Monday, March 10th.
